Looking outwards

Anglicans have been present on the Continent for centuries. St Alban’s is part of the Diocese in Europe, one of 42 dioceses which comprise the Church of England. We are part of the worldwide fellowship of Churches that is known collectively as the Anglican Communion.

Our Bishop is The Rt Revd Robert Innes, who is assisted by the Suffragan Bishop, The Rt Revd David Hamid. In addition, The Revd Canon Dr Peter Hooper serves as the Archdeacon for the many Anglican chaplaincies throughout France and Monaco.

At the same time, St Alban’s has active relations with other churches and faith communities. We participate in Strasbourg’s Ecumenical Council of Churches and since 2022 share an active partnership with the Protestant church of St. Pierre-le-Jeune, in the centre of the city. We understand that our Christian witness is strengthened by that of others and that the wisdom of other faiths can also teach us.
